What a resume template for a new graduate should do
Most US recruiters expect a recent graduate resume on one page. Education goes first while it is your strongest credential: school, degree, graduation date, GPA if it helps, honors and relevant coursework. Internships, research, part-time jobs and leadership roles follow, each with dates and a line or two on what changed because you were there. Each resume template for recent graduates here keeps education near the top and makes a short work history look intentional.
A resume template for a recent graduate has a harder job than one for a senior hire: it has to make limited experience look organized rather than thin. Consistent headings and dates aligned the same way on every entry do more for that than color or graphics. Lead each bullet with what you did, then the result, and keep class projects in their own section so they do not pose as jobs.
Six graduate resume templates
Clapham and Wimbledon are classic single-column layouts and the safest choice for job portals and campus recruiting systems, which read text in order. Greenwich uses a timeline that suits internships spread across semesters. Fulham adds a colored banner header, and Lewisham is compact for a graduate with a full page of experience.
Putney carries a left-hand sidebar for skills. Two-column layouts read well to a person, so save it for a resume you hand over at a career fair or send to a contact directly. Each preview is a real render of the same sample candidate; browse every layout on the resume templates page.
From your current resume to the template
These are not blank documents. Upload the resume you already have, as PDF or Word, and get it back in the template you choose, exported as a PDF and an editable Word file. The PDF matches the preview exactly; the Word file is a close approximation for further edits.

What to leave off a recent graduate resume
Cut high school details once you have a degree, unless the school is a recognized feeder for the role. Leave off references, a full street address and an objective statement; a two-line summary that names the role you want and the skills you bring does the same job better. If your GPA is below 3.0, it is usually better omitted than explained.
Keep the language active and specific. Organized a campus fundraiser that raised a stated amount beats responsible for events, and a class project with a real client or dataset can sit in its own projects section with the tools you used.
A small, governable design system.
Organisation defaults flow into a strict template definition the renderer can reproduce safely — the same definition drives the preview and both exports.

Try one with your resumeWhat should a new graduate resume include?
Your name and contact line, education with degree, graduation date and GPA if it is strong, then internships, part-time jobs, research and leadership roles with dates, and a short skills section. Relevant coursework and projects help when paid experience is light.
Is there a standard resume template?
There is no single official template, but there is a standard shape: contact details, education or experience in reverse-chronological order, then skills. Most employers are comfortable with any clean, single-column layout that follows it.
Should a recent graduate resume be one page?
Usually, yes. One page is the norm for new graduates in the US. Go to a second page only if you have substantial internships, research or work history that would otherwise be cut.
Do internships and part-time jobs belong on a graduate resume?
Yes. Internships show relevant exposure and part-time jobs show reliability. List both with dates and a result where you have one; a summer job described well beats an empty space.
Should I put a photo on my resume?
No. Photos are not expected on US resumes and many employers prefer not to receive them. Our templates have no photo slot.
