Building an engineering resume a hiring manager can scan
Open with a headline that names your specialty, such as backend engineer, network administrator or controls engineer. Group skills by category and list them as words. In each role, lead bullets with what you built or fixed, name the stack, and add the measurable result: latency cut, uptime improved, a migration delivered.
Put your GitHub or portfolio URL in your contact line as plain text. Certifications and clearances belong in their own short section with dates. Early-career engineers usually fit one page; senior engineers with architecture or leadership scope can use two.
Early-career engineers can lead with a projects section when it is stronger than their work history: a capstone, an internship build or open-source contributions with links. Move it below experience once paid roles carry more weight.
For contract-heavy careers, a timeline layout such as Euston or Stratford keeps short engagements legible: each client, dates and one line of outcome, in order.
Seven technical resume templates
Borough is a classic single column and the safest choice for job portals. Euston and Stratford use a timeline for contract histories, and Southwark and Vauxhall are compact for dense experience.
Aldgate and Canary Wharf hold skills in a left-hand sidebar. They read well to a person; for online applications, pick a single-column layout. Each preview is a real render of the same sample candidate; browse all resume templates.

Technical resume content that recruiters trust
Technical recruiters often screen before a hiring manager sees anything, so write for both. Spell out an acronym once if a non-specialist might read it, and keep the skills section free of every library you have touched once.
Quantify where you can: requests per second, deployment frequency, incidents reduced, systems migrated, users supported. A technical resume template gives those numbers a consistent home; the content still has to supply them.
A small, governable design system.
Organisation defaults flow into a strict template definition the renderer can reproduce safely — the same definition drives the preview and both exports.

One page for students and early-career engineers. Senior engineers with significant architecture, leadership or open-source work can use two.
Where do certifications go on a technical resume?
In their own short section near the skills list, with the issuing body and the date earned or expiry date.
Should I include a GitHub link?
Yes, if it shows work you are happy for an employer to read. Put it in your contact line as plain text so it can be copied.
Are two-column resume templates OK for tech jobs?
They read well to a person and keep long skills lists tidy. For online applications, a single-column template is the safer choice.
